We made slime with our mentors! "You need two things: polyvinyl alcohol (a main ingredient in washable school glue) and borate ion (which we got in contact lens solution). In the chemical reaction that follows slime is created.
Slime is a Non-Newtonian fluid which means that its viscosity can change. When the students pull it apart abruptly it will break but pulled slowly it will stretch." (taken from "The Science Behind Slime"by Dana Abraham 2014
Everyone took a bag home. Should you need to dissolve it, vinegar will work. Students added color if the chose, glitter if they wanted. It was a fabulous day of scientific discovery and artistic creation.
