The Bumblebees had an amazing science adventure creating and examining artificial snow. What started as a small white powder (primarily Sodium polyacrylate) grew exponentially bigger when water was added creating a cool, white pile of snow. Each polymer can absorb 200 to 300 times its own mass in water. Add too much water, though and just like the real thing, it turns to slush. The good news is this snow can be dried out and created again.
