 We learned some great chemistry today in our skittles experiment. This experiments help students understand a fundamental aspect of chemistry, chemicals move from higher concentrations to lower. The children set up their experiments and watched as the colors floated away from the skittles, demonstrating a concentration gradient.

 A very interesting science lesson involving surface tension. How and why does the pepper float in the middle of the milk but dance to the sides away from the liquid soap? How do the liquids and solid interact differently? If you repeat the experiment do you get the same results? Why do you think that is? Does it make a difference how much pepper you add to the milk?
